OLGA BUDAEVA, ELENA BUDAEVA

 

Artists, designers, choreographers, dancers

 

Olga and Elena are twin-sisters who were born in Moscow, Russia.

From an early age, they showed natural inclination for painting and they entered Serov Children Art school at the age of 12 which they graduated with distinction.

Then they graduated from the department of Applied Arts at Moscow State Textile University named after A.N.Kosygin with Honors. 

Olga's speciality: artist, stylist, textile and interior designer

Elena's speciality: artist, stylist, costume designer. 

Also Elena finished Private Higher School of design led by O.N.Zhahova.

Olga and Elena are members of International Federation of Artists & Created Artist's Union of Russia.

 

They work as artists, designers and their paintings and drawings have been included in different international exhibits, festivals and private collections.


Besides painting and drawing they have been also interested in motion, dance. Olga and Elena are Candidates for Master of Sports in rhythmic gymnastics, they went in for gymnastics from 6 to 13 years old 

and in that period they studied classical dance.

Then they studied modern dance and contemporary dance in Moscow, learned with N.Ogrizkov, Emmanuelle Gorda, A.Braslavskaya, I.Dolgolenko, T.Gordeeva.

They have trained at Impulstanz dance festival in Vienna.

They took part in different workshops and research projects led by Carolyn Carlson, Juha Marsalo, Laura Aris, Kenji Takagi, Inaki Azpillaga, Jan Fabre, Keith A.Thompson, Damien Jalet, Jozef Frucek & Linda Kapetanea, David Zambrano, Frey Faust, Keren Levi, Mitia Fedotenko Francesco Scavetta, Rasmus Olme, Shelly Senter, Marta Coronado, Judith Sanches Ruiz etc.

Since 2009 they have been involved in some contemporary dance performances and projects in France and Russia.


In 2011 Olga and Elena were invited by Jean Lambert-wild for the creation War Sweet War - a french theatre performance by Jean Lambert-wild, Jean-Luc Therminarias, Stéphane Blanquet and Juha Marsalo, Comedie de Caen - CDN de Normandie.

They have been working as actresses-dancers in War Sweet War which was on a tour in France from 2011 to 2015.


Olga and Elena make paintings, graphic works, contemporary dance performances, video performance, textile and interior design, costume design and photography.


“We use the spaces of our memory and imagination, our works combine memories and impressions of different periods of our life, we follow our vision and intuition. Also we paint from life. A source of inspiration is nature, painting, poetry, literature, music…"

 

In the period from the 26th of October until the 23rd of November 2017 their personal multidisciplinary project VISION OF THE SOUL / MIROIR DE L'ÂME has been held in the French Institute in Moscow. It includes an exhibition of the series of graphic works, paintings, sketches for the performances, author's photographs, a sound installation TIME, a contemporary dance performance Memory of heart, version II (2017). The project is dedicated to France. It was supported by the French Institute in Moscow.

From the 18th-26th of March and from the 9th-14th of April 2018 Olga and Elena were invited to take part in the Residence for contemporary dance artists on STANTSIA art venue in Kostroma with supporting by Mikhail Prokhorov Fund where they could continue working on their new performance (2019). And during the same time their project VISION OF THE SOUL (2017) was presented on STANTSIA art venue from the 24th of March until the 16th of April 2018. At the opening of the exhibition Olga and Elena showed their performance Memory of heart, version II (2017).

Memory of heart, version II (2015) was selected and premiered as a part of the programme of Contemporary Dance Festival Lonely in the rain? on October 24, 2015 in Joensuu, Finland.


Olga and Elena are interested in collaborating with the artists from the different fields of Contemporary Art.

DESIGNERS

 

Olga and Elena work as interior designers and decorators, they control of all processes from design to realisation. They use the collections of fabrics, curtain poles, wallpapers, all the accessories of well-known European, American and Russian manufacturers

Olga and Elena make contemporary dance performances (staging, choreography, scenography) and video performance
